Trips, Visitors & Experiences

We organise a carefully curated range of trips, visitors and experiences to serve a number of purposes:
- to provide life experiences
- to promote healthy and safe lifestyles
- to encourage participation in sport
- to compliment and enhance the curriculum
- to provide understanding of our local area
- to help understand the lives and experiences of ourselves and others
- to foster independence (including two residentials)
Here are some examples of our trips, visitors and experiences...
Ducklings!
Nursery, Reception and The DENN had 15 duck eggs in incubators and they all hatched into ducklings!
International Netball Trip
On the 16th November some of our Year 4 children were chosen to be mascots for the international netball match between England and New Zealand at the Copper Box Arena. We had an amazing time and even saw an England victory! The children were superstars; they asked the netballers some great questions and were brilliant walking out onto court with the players too!
Thorpe Park
Thank you to ACS for the opportunity to experience a range of STEAM activities.
Year 6 Trip: Battle of Britain Bunker
This trip to the Battle of Britain Bunker really brought the WWII history learning to life. What an amazing museum to have on our doorstep!

Keeping Safe
We learn about how to keep safe in lessons and we also have visitors and special sessions to help us too.
Latin Trip Wallace Collection
The children took part in Greek and Roman myth storytelling sessions. What a fantastic opportunity to dive into Roman culture and language!
Number Day & Maths Workshops
We like to celebrate mathematics in all its forms. Here you can see photos from our celebration of Number Day and from our maths workshops, where the children learnt through practical maths.
Pen Pals Project
Through our partnership with ACS International Schools, selected children took part in a pen pals project culminating in a literary festival. This was a project that spanned several years and encouraged writing for a purpose.
Sport Taster Sessions
As part of the South Hillingdon School Sports Network our children get the chance to try lots of different sports to see what they would like to take up. We have had rugby, badminton, cricket, basketball and Taekwondo to name a few...
Schools' 4th Plinth Awards April 2024
Yohansa from year 6 won the top prize from the Hillingdon entries with her artwork 'Calmness'.
VE Day
We loved celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. We sang songs through the decades as well as the National Anthem. There was a LOT of red, white and blue!
Visit from John McDonnell MP for Hayes and Harlington
Our Pupil Parliament enjoyed meeting John McDonnell and discussing politics (amongst other things!). Mr McDonnell was also interviewed for our latest podcast.
World Book Day and all things reading!
We LOVE reading at HPS. We have lots of books in school, as well as a wonderful library. We like to have authors in school (and virtually) to inspire the children and set out 10 books to read for each year group as well as having a weekly and half termly Reader of the Half Term awards.
Year 1 Trip to Iver Environment Centre
Year 1 visited Iver Environment Centre to help with their science learning.
Year 2 Trip to London Zoo
Year 2 got a lot out of visiting London Zoo. The penguins were a particular favourite!
Year 3 History Trip to Butser Ancient Farm
Year 4 Overnight 'Astronights' trip to The Science Museum
Our Year 4 children benefit hugely from an overnight visit to the Science Museum to learn about all things 'space'. Not only does it help their science understanding, but it starts to build resilience and independence.
Year 4 Trip to The Verulamium Museum
This trip is a great way to bring history and Latin learning to life.
Year 6 Art Visit to Wembley Stadium
Our art lead worked collaboratively with staff at Wembley Stadium to pioneer this amazing trip which focuses on depicting movement in art, as well as giving the children the chance to visit a significant local (and national) landmark.
Year 6 Trip to RAF Hendon
Our year 6 children love visiting RAF Hendon to bring their history learning to life.
Young Voices
Our choir enjoyed being part of the largest choir in the world at the 02!
